In Melbourne’s outer suburbs, MJ Harris Group has renovated a beautiful mid-century home, packed with history and enriched with character. Built in the 1950’s this home was in its original condition. Owned by a hypnotherapist in the 1970s, practicing from a separate dwelling at the rear of the property.
Unlike any other, this home is preserved with original features, including double-sided mirrors, extremely thick walls, padded doors, and speakers.
The brief for this renovation was to create a connection between the two separate dwellings, creating practicality and mid-century modernism in this family home.
To tie a modern mid-century flare to this home, we have brought on new life by incorporating materials such as natural terrazzo tiles. The terrazzo tiles from Perini tiles are featured throughout the home and creates a sense of playfulness and elegance. The different variations of materials in the terrazzo, pair perfectly with the warm tones of natural timber throughout and complement the fittings and fixtures.
